April 15, 2018 – PONTIAC – artPontiac kicked off its newest initiative, Art Socials, on Saturday night at the Stone School in Portage-du-Fort, Quebec. The debut event was a great success with several artists coming together to work on their projects, talk about art, eat great food and get to know one another. Attendees hailed from Quyon, Bristol, Shawville, Fort Coulonge and Pembroke.
This was artPontiac’s first Art Social but will not be the last. The Art Socials will be held on the second Saturday of every month at the Stone School in Portage-du-Fort from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. The events will be potluck in nature. Check out our calendar for details.
Cost for members of artPontiac (also known as the Pontiac Artists’ Association) is FREE. You must bring your membership card or the email copy you received via smartphone to benefit from the free entrance. Cost for non-members is $5 per person. Children twelve and under are FREE.
Memberships and membership renewals will be sold at the events for $20 per person per year.
The next Art Social will take place on Saturday, May 12th, 2018. Whether you are feeling artistic or not, come on out for the music, laughter and fun, and feel inspired by the others who may be doing art. All artistic expressions are welcome. See you all there! Bring your cameras and smart phones to take pictures and share them, of course tagging @artPontiac and hash-tagging #ArtSocial, #artPontiac. 🙂 We’d love the shout out.
Also taking place that day will be the Open House for the courses being offered by artPontiac through the Pontiac School of the Arts this summer from 4:00-6:00 pm. Everyone is invited to come out and meet this year’s teachers, learn about the courses they will be offering and sign up if interested. Anyone who signs up at the Open House will receive a free gift from artPontiac.
Stay tuned for information on the Pontiac Frames exhibit which will invite everyone in the Pontiac and Ottawa Valley to come to the next Art Social to pick up an empty frame to create artwork in any medium of their choice on the theme of Hope.
- Details on where you can donate and drop off any spare frames you have will be coming out shortly. Stay tuned for that, too.
Thank you to everyone who came out to artPontiac’s first-ever Art Social! We hope to see you all out at the next one. And we hope to see everyone who couldn’t make it this time, too.
Special thank you to Glen Hartle for all of the photographs in this article.
