Reading Night Coming Up!!!
This Thursday (July 20th), we will be having another Reading Night. If you are interested in reading some of your own short fiction or an exerpt from a longer piece of your own short fiction, please come on out to the Stone School in Portage-du-Fort, Quebec, for 7:00 pm. The only two requirements are that the pieces you read are fiction (or poetry) written by you and that they are under 5,000 words.
A Wee Recap:
We met on July 6th for a Short Fiction Critique Night to critique four short stories based on the same theme (prompt) and with the goal of being flash fiction (under 1,000 words). The discussions about the pieces were really great, and everyone gave and received fantastic insight.
The stories we discussed were all based on the same prompt: Your character has walked away from everything. They’re starting over in a new place, away from everything they know in search of a new life.
Tools & Techniques Night (August 3rd, 2017):
We are hosting our very first Tools & Techniques Night on August 3rd from 7:00-9:00 pm. As this will be our first meeting of this kind, the exact format is yet to be known. The general idea is for everyone to attend with the intent of walking the group through a tool that they use that the find useful for writing, editing, tracking or anything else related to writing. As well, if you have any techniques that you use for your writing, editing, focusing or anything else related to the experience of being a writer, please come prepared to share!
